Rest well, David.
I didn't know David Surette super well, but I'd see him a few times a day for a week out of every year. He was always kind. I know and love his daughter Isa heaps (and I'm grateful to have come to know and adore Julianna a bit this year too). I lost my dad too early at the age Isa is now. It's such a wild club to be a part of.
A few years back, back at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival, my pal Steve Roy recognized that we never really see music while we're cooped up in the food shack. He wrangled a few folks to come to us and play so we could actually be involved in a deeper way. David was part of that group. Honestly, it was the first time I felt personally touched by a genre and community that would come to occupy my whole heart. What a gift. I understand he touched many in that way. I am grateful.
