I started spinning out today what with Everything Going On and I forced myself to go for a walk and I felt better.
I am engaged in my communities in a number of different ways and it helps exponentially in the face of chaos, cruelty and buffoonery. Maybe the ship is going down—life is going to be more difficult especially for our vulnerable friends, family and neighbors—but mitigating dread is essential for the sake of long term sustainability. Figure out how you’re gonna show up and make plans accordingly.
I’m saying this here, in part, so I can hold myself accountable to following my own advice. Don’t forget—especially in times like these—that the Internet is a panic/dread inducing psychotropic drug. Go for a walk. Read. Do something, literally anything.
The entire history of the world is defined by people being absolutely certain the end is imminent. Maybe! But if that's the case, live and act and love accordingly.
I appreciate your encouragement. You are right. May we love and love accordingly.
It wash so nice to find this in my inbox as I am currently box breathing trying to come down from a state of dread. I don't want to spend my precious time in dread. I want to choose to spend it in appreciation of art. Goodnight. I'm gonna go listen to an audiobook and do my happy little word games.
